Our Story

Jojo Struys, founder of OhanaJo Studio was living life at what felt like a breakneck pace until she had one of those moments where she felt nothing she had ever done mattered more than simply focusing on having more time to do the things she loved. She was so busy producing, writing and hosting TV shows for a production house called Kyanite TV which she founded with her husband in 2006, that she started to worry she would burn out. It was exciting but she was burning the candle on both ends and one of the things money can never buy is your time…and she was spending a lot of it producing TV shows revolving around topics and genres (apart from her own destress travel show) that wasn’t nourishing her soul.

From 2013, she had travelled to almost 40 countries in the short span of two years, launched a book, a children’s brand from scratch, gotten married, and managed to write and host her own travel series for Discovery Channel Asia. From the outside looking in, it would appear that she was achieving so many things but she felt she was going too fast. She was doing too much and she needed to design her life in such a way that she had more time to “just be” and to share the rich plethora of lessons she’s learnt along the way. We all have 24 hours in a day but she was not spending it in enough areas that made her feel alive. So, something had to give.

She knew she needed to slow down in order to speed up, and that meant taking a step back from her own company and pouring more time and energy back into herself. She wanted to travel the world and learn more courses and enrich herself through further education. Thankfully, her husband was in full support of doing whatever it would take to make her feel more at peace. So, she decided to check herself into an ashram in India at the end of 2015, which was something that was always on her bucket list. It was one of the most challenging things she’s done to date but so expansive and soul enriching. She returned home fitter, and more flexible than she’s ever been. She also felt mentally stronger, and much calmer.

Her husband kindly took over most of the reins of their production business and even suggested she take up some of their office space to build her very own studio so she would have a place to express her work and share her extensive teachings. This is how the humble beginnings of OhanaJo was born and Jojo has so much to share because she has been on this journey of learning and self-discovery for as long as she can remember. She has been trained in various healing modalities and has studied ancient breathing techniques from masters from all over the world. She really hopes to meet you on the mat or guide you through one of her amazing classes or sound healing sessions, one day.
